After his death on the cross, Jesus’s disciples were so sad. They had lost their master,
their friend, who had brought them hope through his words, his healings and his warm
welcome to all. They were afraid of being mistreated too.
By meeting the risen Jesus, the lives of his disciples were transformed. Their sadness and fears have turned into joy and hope. The resurrection of Jesus was for them the sign of victory over death and evil. In rising from the dead, Jesus is more than a man who returns
from the dead. He is the one who destroyed death by receiving the breath of life that comes from the Father.
May the celebration of Easter be a source of hope for us today. Despite the challenges
and fears we may have due to economic problems, a turbulent political situation, failing health, uncertainty about the future, loneliness, concern about climate change, may the resurrection of Jesus remind us that life is greater than death, that Jesus is stronger than evil.
Let us be witnesses of hope in our world. Let us be witnesses of the risen Jesus.
Happy Easter!
